Untitled document Maseru, July 23(LENA) -- In honour of King Letsie III's 46th birthday, Metropolitan Lesotho presented a Friesland at an occasion held at Matsieng Royal Palace on Thursday.

The cow whose calf was born on the King’s birthday, July 17 were both handed to the King as a present. Standard Lesotho Bank (SLB) also presented the King with a young Drakensberger bull in celebration of his birthday. 

Accepting the present, the King expressed gratitude on behalf of himself and his family, saying that he will look after the cattle as he grew up looking after cattle.

King Letsie III said, “looking after cattle is one of the cultural norms and traditions Basotho are subjected to”. He also mentioned that the gift will remain as a cultural legacy in his family. 

The King thanked Metropolitan and all Basotho for always celebrating his birthday in various special ways, saying that it is an indication that the people of Lesotho support the royal family.

Handing over the gift, Mr. Ramakhula, Metropolitan board member expressed hope that the cow will one day bring more calves into the royal kraal, considering that the cow already has a calve.

Mr Ramakhula said that the present is a token of appreciation as the royal family has contributed significantly to the growth of the company by being policy members of Metropolitan Lesotho Ltd.

King Letsie III was born at Scott hospital in Morija on July 17 1963. He is the eldest son of the late King Moshoeshoe II and the late Queen Mother 'Mamohato Bereng Seeiso.

The King tied the knot with Ms. Karabo Mots'oeneng and is blessed with three children, Princesses Senate, 'Maseeiso and Prince Lerotholi.
